The Public Safety Team of the Voortrekker Road Corridor Improvement District (VRCID) conducted a visible operation through the streets of Parow this week, which led to the seizure of dagga, mandrax and remote jamming equipment.

The operation was conducted on Wednesday 15 July.

The team was accompanied by members of the City of Cape Town‘s Law Enforcement and the police. The VRCID says the teams continue to maintain a visible presence throughout Parow, with regular patrols, stop-and-search operations and high-visibility policing focused on Station Arcade and the surrounding area.

During the proactive operation on Wednesday afternoon, VRCID officers conducted stop-and-searches as part of ongoing efforts to deter criminal activity and reassure businesses, commuters and the public that safety remains a priority,” the organisation said in a statement.

The items discovered were confiscated, they said.

Derek Bock, VRCID chief operating officer, thanked those involved. “The VRCID would like to thank the Parow police and law enforcement for their ongoing support in Parow CBD, this is a partnership in action. The fact is that drugs are killing our children and we will continue with these operations. The VRCID is unapologetic in stating that we do not want the criminal element in the Parow CBD area,” said Bock.
