City of Cape Town departments will be at the Beacon Valley Community Centre in Mitchells Plain on Wednesday, 23 September, as part of the City’s Basket of Services programme.
The programme allows residents to access City services closer to home.
When and where
The event runs from 09:00 to 15:00 at the Beacon Valley Community Centre, on the corner of Trampoline and Kyalami Street, Beacon Valley, Mitchells Plain.
The City’s Customer Relations Department mobile team will help residents log queries and service requests electronically.
Services on offer:
Several City departments will be present to assist residents with enquiries and concerns:
- Human Resources, for information about bursaries, internships and apprenticeships
- Community, Arts and Culture Development, to find out how you can get involved
- Business Hub and Jobs Connect
- Customer Relations
- Energy, for meter-related issues, billing issues and account concerns
- Health, to find out more about primary health care services
- Safety and Security, for information about traffic and law enforcement services
- The Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) and jobseekers, which gives unemployed youth a chance to register on the jobseekers’ database and become eligible for job opportunities in their communities
What to bring
“We know that travelling to municipal offices can be costly and time-consuming, which is why we are bringing City services directly to Mitchells Plain residents. The Basket of Services is about making it easier for residents to access the help they need, whether it is resolving billing queries, updating account information, exploring job opportunities through our Jobseekers Database or EPWP, or speaking directly to City officials about municipal services. Residents can get assistance right there in their own community next week, Wednesday. We encourage everyone to make use of this opportunity by bringing along their ID or municipal account so our teams can assist them as quickly and efficiently as possible,” said Theresa Uys, Mayco Member for Corporate Services.
