Cape Town Toy Run launches 2026 charity drive for children in need

This week saw the official launch of the 2026 Cape Town Toy Run – an annual drive to collect and distribute unwanted and preloved toys to those less fortunate.

The launch was held at the Killarney Internation Raceway on Thursday 15 October.

The riders of the Italian Motorcycle Owners Club started the Toy Run in 1983 and since then clubs across the country have climbed on board to help with this worthy cause.

On the last Sunday of November each year, thousands of bikers all over Southern Africa gather for the annual Toy Run, one of the world’s biggest motorcycle charity events and, after more than four decades, of the best known, the organisation says.

Venue

On Sunday 29 November this year, Killarney will play host to the 43rd annual Cape Town Toy Run. Every year the Toy Run, as a registered charity, gives toys to thousands of children in foster homes, orphanages, clinics, places of safety, grassroots daycare centres and crèches across the Western Cape, a silent minority for whom the opportunity to receive a gift would not exist were it not for this event, the charity says.

Members of the public are invited to join the charity in November, and to bring along unwanted and preloved toys.

Activities

Everybody is invited to join for a full day of live music and entertainment, fine food, ice-cold drinks, and market stalls – all for the price of a toy, the charity says. It says the event is not just for bikers, but anybody who is ready to give back for the benefit of those most in need.
