Who is the man who died under a tree outside the Kleinvlei police station in Eerste River on Monday 19 October?

Inquest docket

That is the question residents are asking after the man’s body was found at about 06:00. “The Kleinvlei police opened an inquest docket. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation,” says Constable Ndakhe Gwala, police spokesperson.

According to reports an officer from another station spoke to the deceased briefly outside the station before the man left. Workers from the area later found him unresponsive under the tree. At this stage, it has not been established how the man died.

A resident who spoke to TygerBurger on condition of anonymity says people in the area would like to know what happened and who the person is. “We have so many questions. Why was he dropped there? Who dropped him there? Was he injured? If so, why wasn’t he taken to hospital? People don’t just turn up dead,” the resident says.

TygerBurger contacted the local community policing forum for comment but has yet to receive a response.
