The highly anticipated Blue Downs Festival returns for its second season on 3 January 2026, to be held again at the Blue Downs (Malibu) Sportsfield. Following a groundbreaking debut in 2024 the open-air family-friendly music festival is back, bigger, better and more focused than ever on empowering the local community.

Despite limited resources in its first year the festival made a measurable impact. Two local artists went on to record their material showcased at the festival recorded and promoted, gaining widespread attention on YouTube and TikTok.

The event is expanding

According to festival director Brilynn van Rooyen this year the event is expanding its impact by offering employment opportunities for locals, paid gigs for artists and service providers as well as funding for youth-led stall ideas from the Western Cape.

“We’re not just organising a music event,” said Van Rooyen, “we’re creating a platform for real opportunity. The youth are hungry for hope, and we’re here to deliver it through music, business support and community collaboration.”
