Tygerberg Hospice hosted its annual Tree of Lights event on Thursday 5 December at Kuils River Community Church’s grounds, also the base for the hospice locally.
It was a heart-warming evening of remembrance under the stars where people came together to celebrate the lives of departed loved ones.
Attendees could buy a light in honour of someone they hold dear to let their memory shine brightly on the Tree of Lights.
The event in support of the invaluable work done by Tygerberg Hospice embodies a spirit of hope and resilience.
The Nelson Mandela Artillery Pipes and Drums set the mood with live music along with singer Adwine George.
Dr Randall Ortel, originally from Manenberg, who was a part-time taxi driver when his bursary to study medicine fell short, shared an inspirational message.
The evening concluded with the switch on of the Tree of Lights, a poignant moment in remembrance of those who have left an indelible mark on loved ones’ hearts.
