A young artist from Goodwood has just released her latest single from her upcoming album titled “Ace of Hearts”.
Jamie Conway, who goes by the artists’ name Dr Skietz, is a musician and poet who also does charity work with the Lions Club.
The latest track “Ace of Hearts” is the first song from her upcoming album “All At Once” which was released on Monday 25 May.
“It’s a bit of a play on words mixed with a nickname, essentially reminding one that they are surrounded by love, and that they don’t always have to accept the cards they’re given by the universe, they can also draw their own. I wrote it for a dear friend of mine who has bipolar and was deep into an episode at the time. Episodes like that can make it difficult for people to anchor to reality, and I was hoping the song could aid in that, and help calm her down during moments of detachment.”
She also released a music video. “The music video is confusing, yet at the same time makes sense, and is incredibly wholesome.”
Conway said she had taken a bit of a break from music to focus on her writing. Her first album “Chaotic Growth” appeared in 2023.
New album
“Right now, I’m working on a new album called “All At Once”. This one is slower, more intentional. The concept is that growing up and healing happens slowly, and then all at once. It’s indie rap, with a focus on the self and healing. I wanted to be a lot more vulnerable, so I get into the topics of my childhood and what it was like growing up with an abusive father. I also get into the topics of grief and mental health, with some fun moments sprinkled in between. I’m really excited to show these parts of myself; the album will be dropping later this year, but I will be making and publishing music videos and visualizers for every single one of the songs over the next few months,” she explains.
Conway also has two poetry books published internationally with Jack Wild Publishing, founded by famous poet Christopher Poindexter — 2A.M. Debris and Naked Leftovers. Both books are available on Amazon.
