The United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) has launched its third Call for Proposals under the A2D Facility, inviting organisations worldwide to apply for grant funding to implement cutting-edge climate solutions in developing countries.

The A2D Facility — which aims to accelerate the commercialisation of innovative climate technologies — is offering grants of between USD 1 million and USD 5 million per project across four thematic windows, and up to USD 15–20 million for larger-scale demonstration projects under a fifth window. Focus areas include critical minerals, clean hydrogen, smart energy, and industrial decarbonisation.

The call, published on Tuesday, 14 April 2026, is open to legal entities including private companies, NGOs, universities, and public sector agencies that have been in operation for at least three years. Applicants must partner with at least one local organisation in the country of implementation and are required to demonstrate sufficient financial capacity.

Projects must be implemented in countries eligible for Official Development Assistance (ODA). Specific regional windows cater to Brazil, Türkiye, and Ethiopia (as COP-hosting nations), as well as Latin America & the Caribbean and Asia & the Pacific more broadly.

How and where to apply

All proposals must be submitted exclusively through the UNIDO e-Procurement Portal, accessible via unido.org. There is no alternative submission route — emailed proposals will not be accepted under any circumstances, and late submissions will be automatically disqualified.

Prospective applicants are strongly advised to register on the portal well in advance of the deadline, as the registration process may take up to five working days to complete. Once registered, applicants must upload their complete proposal package — including the Application Form (Annex III), Financial Worksheets, Institutional Assessment, Bank Information Form, and all supporting documents — directly through the portal. Documents must be properly signed by an authorised representative and must not be left in “saved” draft mode at the time of submission.

Requests for clarification must be directed to UNIDO Procurement Services via the portal or by e-mail, no later than Tuesday, 09 June 2026. The final submission deadline is Thursday, 18 June 2026 at 16:00 (Vienna/CET time). Applicants are urged to allow extra time for uploads and to avoid last-minute submissions.

All funded projects must be completed no later than Sunday, 14 December 2030. Submitted proposals remain valid for 200 days following the submission deadline.
