A group of talented swimmers from Milnerton High School is making a splash after earning selections for provincial, national and international competitions following an impressive season in both pool and open water events.

The athletes have been recognised for their consistent performances across various championships, with several swimmers securing places in prestigious Western Cape and South African teams.

Leading the group’s achievements is Ruan Myburgh, who enjoyed an exceptional season with selections as a Province representative, Western Cape representative and Western Cape Open Water representative. He also competed at SA Youth Nationals and SA Schools level.

Cara Visser also stood out with selection for SA Schools and SANJ honours after strong national performances, while Zara Lockhitch earned SANJ selection, underlining her growing reputation in the sport.

School proud of swimmers’ achievements

Nathan Pautz secured selection for SA Youth Nationals and represented the Western Cape in open water swimming, showcasing his versatility across disciplines.

Shanna-Leigh Zee was selected for SA Youth Nationals and also represented the Western Cape in open water events, while Matthew Southworth competed at SA Youth Nationals and earned Western Cape Open Water colours.

Among the top achievers was Tawanda Jani, whose performances earned him selection as a Province representative and a place at SA Youth Nationals. He also received national recognition with selection for the Africa Games team, one of the highest honours achieved by the group.

The school congratulated the swimmers on their achievements and praised their dedication throughout the season.

“Milnerton High School is incredibly proud of these swimmers and the commitment they have shown both in and out of the pool. Their achievements reflect the hard work of the athletes, coaches and support structures behind them, and they continue to inspire younger learners at the school,” the school said.

The school added that the swimmers’ success highlights the growing strength of local swimming talent and reinforces the school’s commitment to sporting excellence.
