Child welfare organisation Badisa has become a member of the South African Council for Business Women (SACBW), marking a significant step in supporting female leadership and community development across South Africa.

The partnership represents a natural alignment for Badisa, where more than 80% of the workforce consists of women. “When more than 80% of your workforce is made up of women, you don’t just talk about empowerment: you live it,” said Adrie Jurgensen, director of marketing, communications and fundraising at Badisa. “That’s why Badisa’s recent membership with the South African Council for Business Women is a natural fit.”

The announcement was made following Badisa’s participation in a SACBW Cape Town Chapter gathering on 21 February at Koffie Therapy in Tygervalley. The event featured guest speaker Amelia Visagie, author of “Oops! I Bloomed Again!“, who shared insights on personal and professional growth.

Expanding networks across three provinces

Badisa representatives Adrie Jurgensen and PR and Events coordinator Zoe Borchards attended the gathering alongside fellow business leaders including Anelda Jonker from SACBW’s Cape Town branch, Sanette Carrick from Thrive Well, and Elistia Evertson from Elistia E Attorneys.

The event concluded with the distribution of planting kits to attendees and certificate presentations to SACBW members, symbolising growth and achievement within the network.

Badisa operates 134 audited programmes across the Western, Northern and Eastern Cape, focusing on prevention, protection and care. The organisation reaches more than one million people each year and maintains Level 1 B-BBEE status whilst being fully Section 18A compliant.

SACBW, established in 1985, operates as a national network connecting women in business and leadership across South Africa. The organisation runs chapters in cities and small towns, promoting women’s roles in driving local economies and building communities while providing space for knowledge sharing and creating lasting social and economic impact.

The partnership between Badisa and SACBW reinforces both organisations’ commitment to supporting women’s leadership and strengthening community networks throughout South Africa.
