Strandfontein Community Police Forum (CPF) has warned that several water meters were stolen in a short time in the area.
The CPF issued a statement saying it has received multiple reports of water meter thefts, prompting calls for increased vigilance from the public.
They emphasised the importance of community cooperation in tackling these crimes and ensuring quick replacement of stolen meters.
Police step up efforts
Sgt Wesley Twigg, Media Liaison Officer for the Western Cape police, confirmed that Strandfontein police have noticed an increase in water meter thefts.
“The police, together with other law enforcement agencies, have put measures in place to curb the theft,” Twigg said.

Police are appealing to the public to help identify those responsible for the crimes.
How to report stolen meters
The CPF has provided clear steps for residents whose water meters have been stolen. Residents must report stolen water meters immediately to arrange for replacements. A police case number is required when reporting the theft to the City of Cape Town.
