Yet another murder has been reported at the Parow Park Municipal Flats on Frans Conradie Drive in Parow – weeks after the death of a 19-year-old boy.
The Parow police confirmed the murder on Friday 27 March.
Lt. Col Leon Marx, detective head, said the murder resulted from an argument between three friends from which they initially walked away. Later, however, two of them got together again. One of them saw that the other had a knife, and he went to fetch his knife. They then fought with one another, and the deceased – who also stabbed his friend – was stabbed in the heart, fatally wounding him, said Marx.
The two men are apparently members of the 27- and 28 gangs. The suspect was arrested in this case, Marx said.
One of the local residents informed TygerBurger over the weekend of the latest murder.
The Community Policing Forum (CPF) chair, Bronwin Daniels, also confirmed the murder, echoing the police that an arrest had been made in connection with the incident.
“We extend our sincere condolences to the family, friends, and neighbours of the deceased during this difficult time,” Daniels said.
The CPF unequivocally condemns all acts of violence within our community, she added.
“Such behaviour is unacceptable and has no place in our society. We remain committed to supporting law enforcement efforts and promoting a safe and secure environment for all residents.”
Daniels said the matter is currently under investigation, and they urge the community to allow the legal process to proceed without interference.
In February this year this newspaper reported on the death of a teenager, Alexino “Tupac” Oliphant, of Arena Court at Parow Park. His body was discovered at the Parow Golf Course. The community held a peaceful protest following his death on Saturday 7 February.
A murder docket was opened at the Parow police station for investigation.
In the Oliphant case, the suspect was also arrested and has appeared in court, Marx said.
