The City of Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue Services were called out to a building alight in Goodwood this week.

The fire occurred at a building in Voortrekker Road, Townsend Estate in Goodwood.

Sydney Abdallah, chair of the Goodwood Community Policing Forum (CPF) says no injuries were reported.

“The fire was started by faulty electrical wiring. There were no injuries as far as we know, and the major damage was in the back store-room, and superficial cracks in the adjacent building, but nothing major,” Abdallah says.

He says that there are business in the building, and that the CPF never had any issues with it. A problem-building is located next to it, though, he says.

Gerard Langenhoven, Fire Service spokesperson, says two pumpers, a water tanker and skid unit were used to extinguish the fire.

“The Fire and Rescue Services received the call at 20:29 of an out building alight, and the fire was extinguished at 21:42,” Langenhoven says.
