Further its earlier alert to residents to reduce water consumption, the City of Cape Towns has informed that water flow from the Theewaterskloof Dam to the Blackheath and Faure water treatment plants has been restored after technical teams switched to manual control of the system.
Reservoirs are now filling and stabilising, says officials.
“The situation is currently under control and is being closely monitored until full restoration is confirmed. Residents are still encouraged to use water wisely to help maintain system stability,” it was stated in the latest alert.
In an alert this morning officials warmed that the City of Cape Town’s water production was reduced by approximately 55% after an overnight interruption in raw water supply from the two treatment plants, impacting bulk water storage levels and the supply network across the city.
