Saturday 6 September 2025 sets the scene for one of the most popular annual running and walking events in Cape Town’s northern suburbs – the Jan Kriel Tekkie Challenge, brought to you by Food Lover’s Market. Hosted in Kuils River, this well-attended and popular event brings More than 2 500 runners and walkers in support of children with special educational needs.
Heralding the start of spring, the Jan Kriel Tekkie Challenge is designed for the whole family. Both serious and novice runners and walkers come out to enjoy a day of fun. All participants receive a medal and qualify for fantastic lucky draw prizes. Events include the 5 km family-friendly Run or Walk, the 10 km Battle of the Sexes Run, and the 10 Miler/ 16 km race. The latter two races are registered with WPA and boast great prize money.
Entries can be completed on race day in the Jan Kriel School hall from 06:00 until 15 minutes before the start of each race. Participants who have pre-entered can collect their race numbers on Friday, 5 September, between 14:00 and 18:00, or on race day, also from 06:00.
