An 81-year-old man was found full of blood and with a wound to his head alongside Contermanskloof Road after he was attacked and robbed at a farm outside Durbanville on Saturday (25 March).
The victim, Geza Fagyas, was found by security guards at about 17:30, before notifying the police, says Durbanville police spokesperson Capt Marchell Rhode.
The security guards arranged for the victim to be transported to a nearby hospital.
According to Rhode, it was later discovered that the man was assaulted and robbed of his belongings inside his house at Kliprug Farm, adding that the victim was attacked with an unknown object by two unknown suspects inside his house.
“At this stage, it is unknown how entry was gained by the suspects. The police found that the house was full of blood. An axe and knives were found with blood on it and the rooms were ransacked,” Rhode says.
According to the victim, the suspects fled in the direction of Dunoon.
“At this stage, no suspects have been identified or arrested. A house robbery case will be investigated by the Durbanville police.”
