LIMPOPO – Police in Limpopo arrested three suspects and recovered two stolen Nissan Navaras valued at R1,5 million during anti-smuggling operations on 2 and 3 August.

The Provincial Tracking Team and Provincial Investigation Unit worked with Limpopo Tactical, Tshimollo Security and Investigations, Shadow Secure, Tracker South Africa and Tracker Connect during the operations.

On Sunday, 2 August, police received intelligence about a Nissan Navara ProMax stolen in Springs, Gauteng, on 1 August. The vehicle was allegedly being transported to the Beitbridge Port of Entry to be smuggled out of the country.

Police established observation along the N1 South in the Westernburg policing area, where the vehicle was spotted travelling at high speed. The driver ignored police instructions to stop, leading to a high-speed pursuit. The vehicle was brought to a stop and confirmed as stolen.

Two Malawian nationals, aged 36 and 40, were arrested. The recovered bakkie is valued at R900 000.

On Monday, 3 August, police acted on intelligence about another stolen vehicle heading to Beitbridge. Members maintained observation on the N1 South outside Polokwane, where a grey Nissan Navara was intercepted. The vehicle had been reported stolen in Alberton, Gauteng, on 31 July. It is valued at R600 000.

A South African man (34) was arrested.
