KENHARDT – Police in the Northern Cape have arrested two suspects and seized suspected tik worth R50 000 following a high-speed chase in Kenhardt.
Officers of Kenhardt Police Station were conducting crime prevention patrols around 19:00 on Friday 3 July, when they spotted a vehicle suspected of being used in drug distribution on the outskirts of the town, a statement issued by police read.
When the officers attempted to stop the Renault Megane as it entered the town, the driver sped off, prompting a pursuit by law enforcement.

Alert in pursuit
During the high speed chase, police noticed the passenger throwing objects from the vehicle’s window.
When the vehicle stopped, the male driver attempted to flee on foot and reportedly discarded additional items before being apprehended.
With the help of additional police officers, both suspects were arrested.
Police seized suspected tik with an estimated street value of R50 000, cash believed to be the proceeds of criminal activities and the vehicle.
A man (41) and a woman (23) were arrested on drug-related charges and are expected to appear in court soon.
ZF Mgcawu District commissioner Major General Monica Sebili commended the police officers for their vigilance and swift action. She said the fight against drug-related crime remains a policing priority.
