Ticket sales opened on Friday for what promises to be one of 2026’s most anticipated musical events, as American alternative folk band The Lumineers announced their highly awaited South African tour date.
The Grammy-nominated band will bring their “The Automatic World Tour” to South African shores, with a confirmed performance at the Grand Arena in Cape Town and at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria.
Founded in 2005 by Wesley Schultz (lead vocals, guitar) and Jeremiah Fraites (drums, percussion, piano), The Lumineers have established themselves as one of the most successful and influential bands of their generation. Their unique blend of alternative rock, Americana, and heartfelt storytelling has captured audiences worldwide.
The band’s impressive track record speaks volumes about their global appeal. Across five studio albums, including their upcoming 2025 release AUTOMATIC, The Lumineers have achieved remarkable commercial success with 24 number-one hits across multiple radio formats.
Their digital presence is equally impressive, having earned over 6 billion streams and building a massive Spotify following of 22 million monthly listeners. The band has also sold more than 1.5 million albums in the United States alone and maintains a social media reach of 6.5 million followers.
The Lumineers are perhaps best known for their breakthrough hit “Ho Hey,” which catapulted them to international fame.
