Three men were arrested on Monday night for an alleged shooting in Hanover Park.
According to Const Ndakhe Gwala of the police’s provincial media office, the men had allegedly been involved in a shooting in Hanover Park at about 20:00.
The vehicle linked to the shooting, a silver VW Jetta, was later spotted at a garage in Lentegeur.
According to Lentegeur Police Station spokesperson, Const Navon van Houten, the garage was at Watergate Mall.
Gwala says Maitland flying squad responded and cornered the men. Upon searching the vehicles, officers found three guns, two of which had no serial numbers.
“The officers also recovered 107 rounds of ammunition. The suspects were arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm, and possession of prohibited firearms and ammunition,” Gwala said.
The men, aged between 18 and 31, were held at Lentegeur Police Station, Van Houten said.
Gwala confirmed that they appeared in the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrates’ Court this morning (18 February).
