Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has suspended Lesiba Arnold Malotana, head of the Gauteng Department of Health and Wellness, with immediate effect, the SABC reports.
“This action taken by the Premier is part of an ongoing assessment of officials, their work, the monitoring of targets, as well as their conduct,” said Lesufi’s spokesperson, Elijah Mhlanga.
Mhlanga added that the signed performance agreements of all Members of the Executive Council (MECs) will be made available to the public on Thursday.
Dr. Darion Barclay, current head of the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA), has been appointed to act in Malotana’s position.
