The clothing line Grace Adapted Clothes and Aid, tailored for the physically disabled, will support Spinal-cord Awareness Month in September.
Its co-founder Furlo Theron, a once-active sportsman, suffered serious neck and spinal cord injuries in a rugby match in 2016.
It left him paralysed from the chest down, and he only has limited use of his arms and hands.
The Abbotsdale resident’s gift of the gab, however, remains unchanged, and wit and humour get him through the tough times.
This was also the main motivation behind developing Grace Adapted Clothes and Aid, which Theron and his occupational therapist, Hilletje Wiehahn, started, a clothing line meeting the specific needs of people with disabilities.
Launched in August last year, it appeals to a need for comfort, affordability and fashionability.
The enterprise also sells other products and aids to ease physical burdens, including aids for people struggling with rehabilitation following surgery.
Theron said this year it will sell limited-edition T-shirts (R300) and green bow-ties (R20) in support of those with spinal cord injuries.
For all queries and orders, Theron can be contacted on 071 682 6107 or Wiehahn on 084 549 8443.
