SPRINGS – The body of a woman has been found partially clothed in an open veld near Rhokana Road in Springs after members of a security company who were patrolling the area in a vehicle noticed the body and alerted the police.

This is the body of the 11th woman to be found in the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality in Gauteng. The body of the first female victim of the so-called Ekurhuleni murders was found on 15 July.

According to a police statement, members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Springs responded to a report of the latest discovery on Sunday 27 September at approximately 12:00.

All necessary role-players have been mobilised, including the Task Team investigating the Ekurhuleni murder cases, Crime Scene Management, Investigative Psychology Services, detectives and Crime Intelligence.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Gauteng, Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni, was also on the scene.
