GQEBERHA – The Provincial Serious and Violent Crime Investigation Unit in Gqeberha is seeking information to solve an armed robbery that occurred at Greenacres in Gqeberha on 30 September.

SAPS said in a statement that according to information received, it is alleged that at approximately 17:00 two men entered the business premises and pointed a firearm at a customer inside the shop.

The security guard on duty just outside the shop noticed what was happening and pressed the panic button.

The suspects forced open a second door to gain access to the jewellery store.

Once inside, they grabbed jewellery and fired a shot inside the shop. A third suspect outside the shop also fired a shot at the display window in an attempt to grab items on display.

The suspects allegedly used a crowbar to break the glass and take jewellery.

The suspects then escaped the scene through another chain store, jumped into two separate vehicles and fled the shopping centre.

No one was injured during the robbery and the suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of jewellery.

No arrests have been made; however, the investigation is underway.
