British rock legend Rod Stewart (81) has pulled the plug on his upcoming US tour dates after undergoing heart surgery, according to an announcement on his social media.

A message posted late Tuesday on the singer’s Instagram page confirmed that the raspy-voiced rocker had “successfully undergone a routine coronary stent procedure”.

The procedure involves inserting a small tube into blocked or narrowed coronary arteries to allow blood to flow more freely to the heart.

Stewart had been scheduled to perform a series of concerts across the United States this month, including shows in Las Vegas.

However, “on the advice of his doctors, he will take the next four weeks to recuperate and regain full fitness before returning to the stage,” his management said.

“Unfortunately, this means he will be unable to continue his current tour dates.”

The spiky-haired performer, famous for hits like “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?”, has maintained a busy touring schedule despite his advancing years. He wrote in 2025: “I love what I do, and I do what I love. I’m fit, have a full head of hair and can run 100 metres (330 feet) in 18 seconds.”

This isn’t the first time Stewart has had to cancel recent performances. On Sunday, he scrapped a show in Cincinnati for what was described at the time as “an unforeseen but minor medical procedure”.

In June, he cancelled a California concert at the last moment after developing laryngitis, though he faced backlash for attending a World Cup match the following day. Later that month, he was seen receiving oxygen during a performance in Utah and told the audience he had nearly fainted.
