President Ramaphosa addresses US tariff concerns, pledging diplomatic action and business support.
President Cyril Ramaphosa said on Monday that South Africa is reaching out to African and Asian markets in response to looming 30% US trade tariffs threatening 100 000 jobs.

The Presidency has confirmed that President Cyril Ramaphosa will embark on a working visit to the United States of America from May 19 to May 22.

In a statement issued by the Presidency, it said President Ramaphosa will meet with President Donald Trump at the White House, in Washington DC to discuss bilateral, regional and global issues of interest.

“The President’s visit to the US provides a platform to reset the strategic relationship between the two countries.

“Further details of the visit will be communicated at a later stage,” the statement explained.
