GORDON’S BAY – Four people have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting that claimed the lives of three men at Gordon’s Bay Mall on Tuesday evening (27 January).
According to a statement issued by the Western Cape provincial police, the incident took place at 20:20, when three occupants of a stationary Toyota Corolla were targeted in the parking lot of the shopping centre. The unknown gunmen allegedly entered the parking area in a vehicle, before exiting the vehicle, approaching the deceased, opening fire and fleeing the scene in their vehicle.
Two of the men succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained while inside the vehicle, while a third was found fatally wounded outside the vehicle. The victims are aged between 40 and 45 years old.
When DistrictMail & Helderberg Gazette arrived on scene about 21:00, police and emergency services had cordoned off the area where the shooting had occurred.
One of the deceased was lying a distance from the parked car, with a gunshot wound to his back clearly visible. The driver-side window of the vehicle where the lifeless bodies of the two other victims were found, was shattered.

The scene drew crowds from the surrounding community as residents gathered in complete shock and disbelief at what had transpired.
Police are investigating a triple murder; the investigation is ongoing.
Police launched a manhunt and arrested four suspects during the course of the night, a police spokesperson confirmed. The deceased, who have been identified, are believed to be affiliated to a well-known gang on the Cape Flats.
