GROBLERSHOOP – The police in the ZFM district dealt drug dealers a heavy blow when an arrest was made and drugs seized on Friday, 14 November in Groblershoop.

A suspected dealer (55) was stopped at a roadblock with a consignment of drugs with an estimated value of almost R2 million. Members of the Groblershoop Visible Policing (Vispol) were conducting a roadblock as part of Shanela Operation 2 high density actions outside of Groblershoop when the vehicle was stopped for routine inspection.

A bucket containing rice was found in the vehicle. A thorough inspection was conducted and mandrax tablets with an estimated value of R1,3 million were discovered underneath the rice.

Upon further searching, Tik valued at R 293 916.66 and dagga valued at R179 625 was found stashed in hidden compartments inside the vehicle.

The suspect was arrested. The drugs were seized and the vehicle impounded as it was used in the commission of a crime. The suspect is expected to appear in court soon.

Maj. Gen. Monica Sebili, district commissioner of ZF Mgcawu, applauded the success by observant and vigilant members of the Groblershoop police. She alluded that the police in the ZFM District will remain steadfast in law enforcement during this festive season and beyond. Drug trafficking will be dealt with vigorously.
