MAMELODI: Members of the police have their hands full trying to resolve a hostage drama involving a police constable in Mamelodi East. Brig. Brenda Muridili, national spokesperson for the police, says the member held his family hostage since about 08:00 this morning, adding that members of the police are on the scene.
“The crime scene is still active. The police’s Hostage Negotiators, a Special Task Force, including other units from SAPS are on the ground in Mamelodi East, Buffer Zone responding to a hostage situation,” says Muridili in a statement
“The constable allegedly fired two shots before the police arrived on the scene, and he is refusing to let his grandmother, nephew and another young boy out of the house. At this stage we can only confirm that there are three people inside the house with the constable.”
Muridili said police members are on the scene, also investigating the motive which led to this hostage drama.
