Crime prevention operations across Cape Town led to the arrest of four suspects and the recovery of two unlicensed 9mm pistols in two unrelated incidents on Friday, 4 September 2026.

Scottsdene raid linked to August shooting

Members of Operation Prosper carried out an intelligence-driven operation in Scottsdene, Kraaifontein, targeting suspects believed to have been involved in a shooting incident on Thursday, 27 August.

Officers searched the identified premises and discovered a 9mm pistol along with 12 rounds of ammunition. Three suspects, aged between 20 and 25, were arrested and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The trio are expected to appear in the Blue Downs Magistrates’ Court once formally charged.

Delft foot patrol foils firearm suspect

In a separate incident, members of the Delft Crime Prevention Unit were conducting routine patrols in Hardekoel Street, Delft South, when they noticed a man who attempted to flee upon seeing the officers.

Police gave chase and apprehended the suspect. A search revealed a 9mm pistol with 15 rounds of ammunition. He was unable to produce a valid firearm licence.

The man faces charges of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition and is expected to appear in the Bellville Magistrates’ Court once charged.
