WELKOM – The Welkom Police have opened two separate inquests following the discovery of the bodies of dead infants in unrelated incidents in Welkom.
According to police, officers were called to Northern Park in Doorn on Sunday, 7 June, after the body of an infant was reportedly found abandoned in a dustbin.
In a separate incident, on Saturday, 4 July at approximately 14:39, a member of the public alerted police after the body of another infant was allegedly brought into Boshoff Flats in Rheederpark by a dog and left on the premises.
Police have confirmed that investigations into both incidents are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
Authorities have appealed to anyone with information that could assist the investigations to come forward.
