The body of a woman (61) has been discovered with stab wounds at Odendaalsrus.

ODENDAALSRUS – Police have launched a murder investigation after a 61-year-old woman was discovered with multiple stab wounds on her body alongside the R30 road in Odendaalsrus.

On Monday 24 November at approximately 08:10, police responded to a murder scene on the R30 road. Upon arrival, officers discovered an African woman covered with a sheet in an open space near the local hiking spot.

The victim was found with multiple stab wounds on her body. Personal items, including a folder, a pair of shoes, and a wig, were discovered next to her, whilst a backpack was found several metres away from the body.

The victim was declared dead at the scene by emergency services personnel. She was later identified by next of kin as Ruth Glenda Roberts (61).

A case of murder has been registered for further investigation. The motive for the killing remains unknown at this stage, and police are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police are urging anyone with information that could assist with investigations or lead to the arrest of the perpetrator(s) to come forward immediately.
