A Worcester-based arts organisation is expanding its reach across the Cape Winelands. It also aims to connect with Cape Town-based opportunities. Ukukhanya Kwelanga Art Society NPC elected a new executive committee at its annual general meeting. The organisation says the leadership will strengthen youth development programmes. The group focuses on drama, workshops and school partnerships. It uses the arts to build confidence, discipline and communication skills among young people.

Focus on youth development

Chairperson Bukhosi Msizi has been re-elected. He will continue to lead the organisation. Members say his leadership will provide stability. They also believe it will support the organisation’s growth plans. Deputy Chairperson Ayanda Masilela says the organisation wants to reach more learners in smaller towns. “We want to make sure learners in smaller towns are not left behind. The arts build discipline, confidence and personal growth,” Masilela said.

He added that the organisation plans to strengthen partnerships across the Cape Winelands. It also wants to connect learners to wider provincial opportunities, including Cape Town platforms.

Executive committee changes

The organisation confirmed several leadership updates. Asiphe Xwayi returns as Secretary General. Asive Xwayi continues as Deputy Secretary General. Sibahle Gecelo now oversees financial responsibilities. Zanoxolo Charles James has been elected Fundraising Officer. The organisation says the team combines experience and fresh ideas. It aims to support long-term sustainability and expand opportunities for young artists.
