Christ Centred Youth launches executive and vision for Cape metro young people

The Christ Centred Youth (CCY) empowers, mentors and develops young people by instilling Christian values, building leadership and fostering community service. Now, the organisation has reaffirmed its commitment to investing in the next generation.

A new executive, a bold vision

CCY held a strategic planning meeting.

The appointed executive committee came together to outline its vision and finalise programmes. These programmes aim to empower, uplift and inspire young people, based on the needs of communities across the Cape Metro. Bongani Tyhali leads the organisation as chair, with Odwa Mapatalala serving as deputy chair. The executive also includes Athandile Mqhele (Events and Logistics organiser), Jeremiah Kafi overseeing (Spiritual Development), Mahle Rani (Treasurer), Iminathi Kafi (Secretary) and Thembi Fuzile (Media and Communications).

More than a youth organisation

Tyhali said CCY exists to help young people discover their purpose, strengthen their faith and grow into responsible leaders who serve their communities. “CCY is more than a youth organisation. It is a platform where young people can discover their purpose, grow spiritually and develop as leaders. Furthermore, we encourage them to become active agents of positive change. We want young people to realise their God-given potential and use it to serve others.”

Expanding programmes

The planning session focused on expanding key programmes. These include discipleship, mentorship, leadership development, community outreach, skills development and youth empowerment. “Our mission is to create safe spaces where young people can grow in their faith and build meaningful relationships. We also want to give them the guidance they need to navigate life’s challenges. Ultimately, when young people are empowered, entire communities benefit.”

Building partnerships

Tyhali said collaboration would remain central to CCY’s work. “We cannot do this alone. Therefore, we look forward to partnering with churches, schools, community leaders, businesses and other stakeholders who share our passion for raising a generation of responsible, compassionate and purpose-driven young people.” CCY operates across the Cape Metro, bringing churches from different Christian denominations together. Through faith-based programmes, leadership initiatives and community outreach, the organisation serves young people where they live.

Get involved

Tyhali confirmed that several programmes and outreach initiatives are planned for the coming months. He called on community members to support CCY’s work. “We invite volunteers who are passionate about serving young people to get involved. You can mentor, assist at events, contribute skills or simply give your time. In addition, we appeal to businesses, organisations and community stakeholders to partner with us as we continue investing in the next generation.” He added that the planning session marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter. “This is only the beginning. Together, we are building a future where every young person discovers their purpose and becomes a positive influence in society. The best is yet to come.”

Grounded in faith

Inspired by 1 Timothy 4:12, CCY remains committed to equipping young people to lead lives of integrity, service and faith. As a result, the organisation continues to make a lasting impact in communities across the Cape Metro.
