Grade 3 learners from Perivale Primary School enjoyed an educational and interactive outing to the Save Our Seas Shark Education Centre earlier this week.

The excursion took place over two days, Monday 23 March and Tuesday 24 March, giving learners the opportunity to explore marine life and deepen their understanding of ocean conservation.

During their visit to the Kalk Bay centre, learners were introduced to a variety of topics, including ocean pollution, different sea creatures and the important role sharks play in maintaining a healthy marine ecosystem.

The experience formed part of the school’s ongoing efforts to provide meaningful, hands-on learning beyond the classroom.

One of the highlights of the trip was the interactive touch pool, where learners were able to gently handle and observe selected marine species up close.

This hands-on experience sparked excitement and curiosity among the learners, many of whom were engaging with such sea life for the first time.

Teachers accompanying the group said the outing was both educational and enjoyable, with learners showing great enthusiasm throughout the day.

The visit allowed learners to connect theory with real-world experiences, making lessons about the ocean more tangible and memorable.

Perivale Primary School expressed pride in being able to offer such opportunities to its learners, emphasising the importance of exposing young minds to new environments and experiences that encourage curiosity and learning.

The school hopes to continue organising similar excursions in the future, with plans to extend these opportunities to other grades as part of its broader educational programme.
