CAPE TOWN – Grassy Park police arrested a suspect during a routine patrol in the area in the early hours of Thursday, confiscating an illegal firearm.

According to police, the incident occurred at approximately 02:00 on Thursday 26 March, when officers were conducting stop-and-search operations as part of ongoing efforts to combat crime.

While on patrol, they spotted a male behaving in a suspicious manner. On approaching him for questioning, he attempted to flee on foot, prompting a chase through the area.

Police successfully apprehended him and, on searching him, they found a black revolver along with ammunition in his possession.

The suspect was immediately taken into custody and is facing charges related to illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
