Fish Hoek High School is preparing for its highly anticipated Founders Day celebration on Friday, 4 September.
The milestone event serves as an open invitation to all past learners, affectionately known as the “Reds,” to return to their alma mater.
Infrastructure changes
The day will feature a special Founders Day Assembly alongside an exclusive preview of major infrastructure changes on campus.
The celebrations will begin at 1:00 pm with the formal assembly, and visitors are requested to arrive a few minutes early to secure seating.
Following the ceremony, returning alumni will have the opportunity to tour the school’s new, state-of-the-art Aquatic Centre and Clubhouse.
Because the world-class facility is currently under construction, space for the physical walk-through remains strictly limited.
Fish Hoek High School Principal Steven Joubert highlighted the profound emotional and historic significance that Founders Day carries for the entire institution.
Joubert noted that the annual occasion is a vital moment to honour celebrate the school’s founding vision, rich history, and collective achievements that have shaped the school into a leading co-educational institution in the Southern Suburbs.
Alumni returns
By bringing alumni back onto campus, the school aims to bridge its deep historical legacy directly with its ongoing forward momentum.
Furthermore, the principal emphasised that having former students interact with current learners provides the student body with living proof of what a solid Fish Hoek High education can lead.
A core highlight of this year’s event is the sneak peek at the new Aquatic Centre and Clubhouse.
According to Joubert, once the world-class facility is fully completed, it will provide learners with a distinct competitive advantage in both swimming and water polo.
The infrastructure will support a year-round, intensive aquatic program specifically designed to establish Fish Hoek High School as a leader in Western Cape aquatics.
Local hub
The benefits of the multi-million rand development will also extend far beyond the school gates.
The principal confirmed that the facility is destined to serve as a vital local hub for grassroots aquatic development across the valley.
It will offer youth from the broader Fish Hoek community access to essential learn-to-swim initiatives, formal water safety training, and top-tier facilities capable of hosting regional sporting events.
Looking beyond the single day of celebration, the school management is actively working on expanding and modernising its global alumni network.
Plans are underway to launch dedicated alumni events and fresh digital platforms.
These tools will enable past pupils to network effectively, mentor current learners, and contribute directly to the institution’s growing legacy.
Joubert extended a warm personal message to any old boys and girls who may not have set foot on the campus grounds in decades.
“No matter how many years have passed, Fish Hoek High School will always be your home,” Joubert stated
He encouraged all former students to walk the familiar corridors once more, reconnect with old classmates, meet the next generation of South African leaders, and witness firsthand how the famous “Reds” spirit remains stronger than ever.
In addition to finalising the aquatic hub, the school community can look forward to continuous, widespread upgrades across its academic, sporting, and cultural infrastructure over the coming year.
