Heathfield High is showing its mettle on a number of fronts
Heathfield High School delivered an impressive all-round performance on Wednesday 22 April, recording success in both chess and cross-country.
The school’s chess team secured a convincing 6-2 victory over South African College Schools (SACS), showcasing skill, focus and teamwork on the board. Learners were praised for their dedication and competitive spirit, the win reflecting the team’s preparation and commitment.
On the same day Heathfield High also participated in a cross-country event hosted at Groote Schuur High School, marking an exciting start to the season. The school’s u-19 athletes demonstrated determination and sportsmanship as they competed against strong opposition.
Top performers included Kazadi Niemabu, who finished in an impressive fourth place, followed closely by Rineidi Tufinama in fifth and Hastings Chakaza in sixth. Their results highlighted the strength and depth of Heathfield’s cross-country squad.
In other news Heathfield High School celebrated a memorable victory after defeating Steenberg High School in a debate held at Steenberg High on Friday 17 April, securing a final score of 50-35. (“Heathfield beats Steenberg in debate”, People’s Post, 28 April).
The event signalled a promising beginning to the season, with all participating athletes commended for representing the school with pride.
With momentum building from both academic sport codes Heathfield High looks forward to continuing its success and encouraging more learners to get involved in extracurricular activities.
