It is obvious that over the past few months the municipality has also been playing the political game leading up to the elections, with one of their major projects fixing potholes. Kudos for them as the roads in Paarl have over the years not been what they should be and in some areas one really needs a 4×4.

But what I cannot get around my head is the number of workers they use to fix one small hole.

A while ago, close to my house near Rusoord, a municipal truck stopped one Friday morning with no less that an eight-man-strong army of workers. They were all there to fix one small pot hole that was not very deep and probably only 45 cm in diameter.

I think anywhere else in the world, a single worker would be able to do this.

As a practical person I cannot see the reasoning for so much labour for a tiny job!
