The Municipal Court supposedly opened its doors last year. My question to the powers that be is, have they actually prosecuted anybody yet for bylaw infringements such as littering, loitering, public indecency (eg urinating in public) and so on?
Just take a walk down Lady Grey Street and see the absolute mess and lawlessness in this heart of Paarl, which was once a thriving area.
Then, law enforcers regularly will be able to also take hordes of people from the Berg River, where they break all kinds of municipal bylaws.
But I suspect this court is just another way for the municipal bigwigs to give their friends and family members jobs, without actually making a real difference in our town.
