Last week the Electoral Commission (IEC), Western Cape sent a warning to residents not to fall victim to online scams regarding jobs at the IEC.

The Provincial Electoral Officer, Michael Hendrickse, said the IEC had commenced the recruitment process for fixed-term contract staff in preparation for the National and Provincial Elections (NPE) 2024.

He said the recruitment process for NPE 2024 started in March and that locals should note all upcoming vacancies will be advertised via the IEC offical website at www.elections.org.za.

The commission was aware social media platforms are used by scammers to take advantage of job seekers and applicants must be cautious before sharing their personal details online and double-check it is the official website address of the IEC.

Other important aspects to take note of includes the following: . The Electoral Commission does not use recruitment agencies or political parties to recruit on its behalf. . There is no admin fee or any cost when applying to work for the Electoral Commission.. All applications for the fixed-term contracts and permanent positions can only be submitted online via the official IEC e-recruitment website. Emailed, faxed or hand delivered applications will not be accepted.
