According to the Western Cape Department of Health the positive impact of the Covid-19 vaccination is already evident in the Cape Winelands and they ask everyone who is eligible to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

The Western Cape Department of Health says a data analysis shows that of the 299 people with active Covid-19 in the Cape Winelands between 14 and 20 August, only 27 were vaccinated. Of the 299 people, 85 unvaccinated people needed hospitalisation and 42 died. Only one of the vaccinated individuals needed hospitalisation and the person recovered.

“This data is very encouraging. Many more lives will be saved if we continue to vaccinate more and more people. Be that person in your family who makes the decision to get vaccinated and encourages others to do the same,” says Dr Lizette Phillips, Western Cape Health’s Director for the Cape Winelands District.

By 20 September 2021 more than 300 000 people in this area had been vaccinated. Everyone who is 18 or older can be vaccinated, including people who do not have proof of identity. To get vaccinated, simply go to your nearest vaccination site. You do not have to wait for an appointment. If you have an ID/Passport, take it with you. Healthcare staff will gladly assist people who do not have proof of identity.

After vaccination, you will receive a vaccination card. Keep your vaccine card safe. This is proof that you have been vaccinated.
