Even thought the national book lending system is still offline at libraries, Drakenstein Municipality announced that they have made alternative arrangements to be of service to book lovers.
Last week Paarl Post reported that the national book lending service has been offline for more than two months.
The Slims system, used by various municipalities, is driven by Sita (State Information Technology Agency). Sita has said that it is investigating the problem and will fix it as soon as possible.
In the meanwhile, Drakenstein Municipality invites residents to visit the libraries and borrow any type of library material.
“Until the Slims system is back online, we are using Excel forms to capture all borrowing data and keep a record. We also encourage library members to download the Libby app on your cell phone and sign up for a free account. The Libby app is available in the Google Play Store. This app allows members to borrow eBooks and audiobooks at no charge,” the Municipality said.
