The 52th Schützweek is currently taking place at the Manyano Centre in Paarl and ends with a choir performance on Saturday at the Toringkerk.

Mainly German speaking choir lovers from all over South Africa come together for a week of practising a choral repertoire of challenging sacred music from different eras. Because this yearly event is organised by the South African Heinrich Schütz Society one or two works by the 16th century composer Heinrich Schütz are always sung. The conductor, who usually comes from Germany, this year is Hildebrand Haake from Herford, Germany.

Apart from singing, there is also much time to socialise and meet up with family and old friends. For this the Manyano Centre is the ideal place.

On Saturday 9 July the choir performs what it has practised at the Toringkerk at 16:00. Anyone is welcome. No fee is charged. Works by Schûtz, Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Brahms as well as Nuysted will be performed.
