The first week of May is by now traditionally “Musical Week” at Huguenot High School in Wellington. This year was no exception, with 39 learners of the school putting on their dancing shoes and performing in the Broadway musical Hairspray. The large-scale production, which included as per usual a live professional orchestra, drew capacity crowds. Learners were also involved backstage, as a technical team doing lighting and sound, designing and building the set. Among the lead characters (from left) were Kadin le Cordeur (Seaweed), Retha van der Spuy (Penny), Streicher Cilliers (Wilbur), Paul Conradie (Edna), Luané Eloff (Tracy) and Zeké Agulhas (Motormouth).
