Eskom restores 85% of power outages after devastating floods

Eskom restore 85% of power after flood outages.
Eskom has been working around the clock to restore power to many communities affected during the recent floods.

Eskom continues to make steady progress in restoring electricity supply across storm-affected areas in the Western Cape with approximately 85% of the customer base already restored, the power utility says in  a statement.

According to Eskom restoration efforts across the affected areas are progressing steadily, with significant milestones already achieved, says Eskom.

It says it has maintained ongoing engagements with the provincial government and local municipalities to ensure a coordinated response, while additional support has been mobilised through collaboration with farmers and other key stakeholders on the ground.

“Electricity supply has been restored to major sections of the network. However, work continues to repair local infrastructure and address remaining challenges, including extensive vegetation damage and difficult river crossings caused by the severe weather conditions.”

The power utility says recovery teams remain on-site across the affected regions and are committed to restoring full supply as safely and efficiently as possible.

Eskom says it is fully aware of the customers who have been without electricity for prolonged durations since the storm hit the province and want to assure those customers that restoring supply soon is a top priority.

“We thank the affected customers for their patience and understanding while restoration operations continue. Eskom will continue to provide updates as progress is made.”
