Fatal accident involving an Interstate bus leaves ten deceased. Families receive support and updates from the bus company's management.

BLOEMFONTEIN – Th e number of fatalities in this weekends Interstate bus crash remain at ten. This after an Interstate Bus Line (IBL) vehicle collided with a private truck on Saturday morning, 15 November, on the notorious N8 road. The victims include seven men and three women.

The tragedy occurred at approximately 06:35 near the RRR farming area between Botshabelo and Bloemfontein. Bus number 4075 was traveling from Botshabelo to Bloemfontein when the collision happened. The impact forced authorities to close both lanes heading into Bloemfontein while emergency services responded to the scene.

In addition to the ten fatalities, 24 survivors were injured in the crash. Of these, 19 sustained minor injuries while five suffered moderate injuries. The most critically injured passengers remain hospitalized at three medical facilities: Braam Fischer Busamed Hospital, Pelonomi Trauma Hospital (both in Bloemfontein), and Botshabelo Regional Hospital

IBL management has established a dedicated help desk at their Bloemfontein head office to assist affected families and victims. Company representatives have been visiting survivors in hospitals to monitor their progress and provide ongoing support. The company emphasized its commitment to ensuring accurate communication and comprehensive assistance to all those impacted by the tragedy.

Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. Preliminary reports suggest that rainy weather conditions may have contributed to the collision.
