DURBAN – One of the city’s most iconic tourist destinations, uShaka Marine World, has announced the immediate and temporary closure of several of its most popular water-based attractions.
In a social media statement released on Thursday, 26 February, the park confirmed that Wet ’n Wild and the Kids World Splish Splash Sprinkler Island are closed until further notice.
The closure significantly impacts visitors looking for high-energy water activities. According to the park’s management, the following are currently unavailable:
- Wet ’n Wild water park
- Combo Tickets (which usually grant access to multiple park areas)
- uShaka Kids World Splish Splash Sprinkler Island
While the slides may be dry for now, it isn’t a total shutdown. The park indicated that other major features, including Sea World (the aquarium) and the Village Walk shopping and dining precinct, remain open to the public.
Management has disclosed the exact reason for the sudden suspension of these services was due to a pipe burst that caused flooding. In their statement, uShaka Marine World apologized for any inconvenience and urged visitors to stay tuned to their official channels for updates.
“Please be advised that uShaka Marine World’s Wet ’n Wild is temporarily closed until further notice. Due to this closure, Combo Tickets and uShaka Kids World Splish Splash Sprinkler Island will not be available.”
Visitors planning trips to uShaka Marine World should check ahead before buying tickets, especially if their visit includes water park activities. Tickets that bundled Wet ’n Wild and child-oriented experiences will not be valid while those areas are closed.
