A South African on-demand delivery and personal shopping app is set to launch its public beta next month, promising to create new earning opportunities for local residents whilst simplifying everyday errands for customers.

SendMePls officially launched on 18 February, targeting South Africa’s unemployment crisis which reached 42.6% in the third quarter of 2025. The platform connects customers with local “Runners” who can complete deliveries and personal shopping tasks using bicycles, scooters, or cars.

“We’re bridging convenience and community,” said Florence Maziko, founding director of SendMePls. The platform is designed to create accessible earning opportunities whilst reducing the hassle of multiple errands for customers.

Unlike traditional delivery services, SendMePls allows customers to request deliveries from up to three different shops in a single trip. Users can order essentials, appliances, household items, or set a budget and shop from any store without restrictions.

SendMePls’ adaptable model allows Runners to choose their own vehicles, from bicycles to cars, and earn up to R8 000 per month

The app offers real-time delivery tracking and secure PIN-based handovers, with three delivery options: standard, express, and scheduled. Beyond shopping, the platform enables users to book rides, send parcels, and purchase gifts.

Runners can potentially earn up to R8 000 per month, according to the company. The low barrier to entry means individuals can start working using existing bicycles, scooters, or cars, making it accessible to a broader range of job seekers.

Planned rollout

The company has planned 2 000 promotional trips for March 2026 across three provinces: 1 200 in Gauteng, 500 in the Western Cape, and 300 in KwaZulu-Natal. Target areas include both suburbs and townships such as Soweto, Tembisa, Katlehong, Soshanguve, Mamelodi, Kagiso, Mohlakeng, Toekomrus, Sebokeng, Umlazi, Khayelitsha, and Langa.

SendMePls will be available through the Apple App Store and WhatsApp, with plans for nationwide expansion following the initial regional rollout.
