A new photography competition presented by Sony Middle East and Africa is inviting emerging photographers and content creators across Africa to showcase their work, with entries open until 31 December.
The Africa in Frame Photo Awards, announced on 6 October, is the first standalone photography initiative of its kind in the region. It runs from 1 October to 31 December 2026 and aims to celebrate Africa’s visual storytellers by giving them a dedicated platform to share their perspectives.
Photographers and content creators are invited to capture the people, places, cultures and moments that define contemporary Africa, from landscapes and wildlife to fashion, sport, weddings and cultural celebrations.

Three categories
Entries will be judged across three categories:
- Wild Africa: wildlife, conservation and landscape photography
- African Style and Spirit: photography celebrating African fashion, sport and contemporary identity
- Ceremony and Celebration: weddings and cultural celebrations that capture the people, traditions and moments that bring communities together
Prizes and judging
The competition will recognise three winners, each of whom will receive a Sony Alpha 7R VI with FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM lens, giving emerging photographers the opportunity to develop their craft with professional imaging technology.
Judging will take place after entries close, with winners announced in mid-February 2027.
‘A new way of seeing the world’
Jobin Joejoe, Managing Director of Sony Middle East and Africa, says Africa’s creative talent continues to shape global visual culture and Sony is proud to create a dedicated platform where photographers across the continent can share their perspectives.
“Photography has the power to tell stories, challenge perceptions and give people a new way of seeing the world,” says Joejoe. “Through this competition, we want to celebrate the unique perspectives coming out of Africa while supporting emerging creators as they develop their craft and share their visual stories with a wider audience.”
